Run, run, run as fast as you can.........

A couple of weeks ago Mike and Kim were out for a visit, there was a 5K going on in
our little town and WE decided to put on our running shoes and participate in it.
I have to say, at 6:00am when we went to register and NO ONE else was there, I
questioned our sanity....I am use to LARGE CROWDED runs with alot of  HOOPLA and loud
music, this one was VERY low key and alot different.
There weren't very many people that showed up to run.
There were quite a few high school students (several
who were on cross country and the drill team showed up to challenge us "older" people)
and only a few other adults besides us.
Oh well...a run is a run, right???
AND RUN WE DID...as fast as we could~

I cut my time down to 30:14 which isn't super, but its an improvement from
the last 5K that I ran in...AND I RAN the entire thing woo hoo....looking forward to another 5K soon!
Kim was a trooper, she didn't want to come BUT she did it anyway! It was fun having her there and
getting to participate with her!
Mike was the first one to finish in our group! He did OUTSTANDING!!
I loved that I got to participate with two of my kids...we had loads of fun, MANY sore muscles and
very tired bodies...but we all finished it!
Kudos to us!!

It was the Fifteenth Anniversary of my 29th Birthday....Happy Birthday to me!

I can't believe how far behind I am on my blogging....life is full and very busy! BUT THERE is hope...I posted today and I will try to catch up soon~

It was almost a month ago that I celebrated my fabulous little birthday. This year I
decided to throw myself a little birthday party. My kids are spread out every which way
and I knew that seeing them all on my special day was nearly impossible...but I
thought I would give it a try anyway.
Los Hermanos in Provo UTAH has been my favorite place to eat for nearly 24 years.
We discovered it while attending college at BYU. Its a fabulous little Mexican chow house that makes me salivate whenever I think of all the yumminess that just oozes out of that place.
I called all the kids and told them I was having a party there and they were all invited to attend.
Erik wasn't able to make it and he was sorely missed...but the rest of the gang was
there and my day was filled with joy and lots of laughter...just the way I like it!
Halle and I posed for a picture as we waited for the gang to arrive.

LOVE this magnificent Mexican restaurant....it even beats out Cafe Rio, which is hard for
me to admit~

Mike and Kim came up from Holden

Jack and Dayna came over from Orem

Todd and Dana drove from Duchesne

Halle and Cam just showed up with US~

ME and My sweetheart of 25 years!!

Smiles and laughter filled the restaurant as we ate to our hearts content!

Little Mr enjoyed his bowl of chip and sitting at the table with the "Big People"...

Can't beat FREE FRIED ICE CREAM on your birthday with
a group of crazy waiters and waitress singing their heart out
in full " MEXICAN fashion".........gotta love the tattle tales that
told the staff it was my birthday (some things should just be left secret)

Little Mr loving up on Aunt Dayna and Uncle Jack~

My birthday party group!

After dinner we headed up to "The Sweet Tooth Fairy" for dessert!!!

BECAUSE we were all still SO HUNGRY (not) but it was a
birthday party and what would that be without CAKE!!

MMMMMMMM.....MMMMMMM... GOOD!!

And so my birthday ended...full of happy memories and fun times. I guess its not so bad turning 44 after all! Thanks to my wonderful family for making my day so special! I have to say, "MY KIDS ARE the BEST"!! Wished they could have all been there, but I guess there's always next year!!
Happy Birthday to me~

Thanks Dr. Wright~

PARTY TIME...THANKS to Halle's Orthodontist, Dr. Wright!
He gave us tickets to go and see "Ice Age 4" in the theater. It was during the
day so Deron and Cam couldn't go (they were SOOOO broken up about it...not)
So we had 2 extra tickets....so we grabbed a cousin and a grandma and headed to the movie!

We all laughed, ate stale popcorn and had a wonderful time.
THEN we headedto CAFE RIO where grandma treated us to a scrumptious lunch!
It was a FABULOUSLY FUN DAY,
Britt and Halle were full of "girl talk" and lots of smiles!...you know, life, BOYS,
DRIVING, BOYS, SHOPPING, BOYS...you know how these darling teenage
girls talk...and I loved it all!!

Dr. Wright knows how to throw a party...can't wait for next year, maybe we'll just let Halle keep her braces on forever, that way we can party for years to come!

"Madagascar" look alike ~

Halle and her new pal...Melman (the Giraffe from Madagascar)!
Who knew that we could find him at a gun store in the city~

Crazy Giraffe anyway................

Mary, Mary quite contrary...how does your garden grow?

Its that time of year when the gardens start to take off...
mine has proven to do just that~
taking off and producing veggies like crazy...Of course the weeds aren't far behind, if
not just ahead of the growing produce in the garden.

The corn and zucchini plants have gotten so big with the 3 days of rain that we got last week~

We've gotten a few tomatoes here and there. I planted a few different varieties this year
hoping to get some earlier pickings. The ones that are on right now are the "Lemon Boys" which I
decided I wasn't very fond of. SO...they won't be getting a growing spot in my garden next year!

We have 2 "plum-less" plum trees in the back yard, which have decided that they aren't plum-less this
year...needless to say the rough wind we had last week knocked most of them off
the tree, leaving them on the ground for ant food...

and the rest the birds have chowed down on.

Crazy how it seems like just yesterday I planted my cute little garden, now its
gone and grown into a jungle...guess this "monkey" will go grazing for the goods tomorrow!

All in a days work~

I have a bird feeder in my back yard, full of scrumptious sunflower seeds, aimed to feed the hungry little birdies that fly around looking for food. Just about every day we hear a LOUD BANG after one of them flies directly into our back window. Most times the birds snap out of it and fly away, but the other day I heard a LOUDER bang than usual so I went out to make sure that the bird was okay. Just below our window we have a fountain...and thats where I found the poor, helpless bird. He had pretty much been knocked silly...shaking his head and looking a bit dazed...maybe even a little "drunk". I fished him up out of the water and held him until I could tell that he was getting his senses back.
He just sat and stared at me, never making a peep....

But it wasn't long before he snapped out of it so I set him
gently on the feeder where he could eat...

much to my dismay he flew off the feeder, running into the window again!!

This time he just clutched to the edge of  it until I could catch him.
SO...Once again, I put him back on the feeder~

I figured he might want to eat...after all, food brings me comfort and makes
me feel better when I'm hurt, why wouldn't it do the same for him?!

Evidently birds aren't the same as people (ha ha ha)...food is meant for nourishment, not
for casual partaking and comforting of the body and soul...the little guy sat there for a bit, never ate a bite and then then he took off like he was as good as new!

Gosh...makes me feel a little like Doctor Dolittle....
magically made the little birdie all better and sent him back to his home in the sky~
