Pioneer Day (July 24th) was on a Monday this year...but the holiday seemed to be celebrated by the State of Utah beginning on Friday and going through Monday, making it a 4 day party for many people (unfortunately we weren't one of the MANY people that GOT the luxury of a 4 day weekend)...BUT We were lucky enough to be able to take an evening and a little time for some much needed R&R as we packed a picnic dinner full of "lunchables, soda's, cheese curds, little smokies and banana's" (I know...so lame and SOOOO not in the holiday spirit of things, but hey~ I didn't have ANY clean up when we got home...the food was all devoured and garbage disposed of in the trash can at the lake) and headed up to the lake....along with the rest of the town~ although the lake was crowded with locals as well as tourists...we were able to find a quiet little beach spot ALL to ourSeLVes...which happened to be a novelty around these parts, especially on a holiday weekend.
Kim's "seriously MOM...I will kill you if you take that picture" look.....guess who's
the BOSS...yes, that would be ME!
Cam's " don't take my picture" smile...too bad, I took it anyway you cheese ball!
The family....enjoying dinner with a holiday meal made for MY crazy little life!
(Thank YOU to our little grocery store for fixing our holiday feast...)
After dinner, Kim and Cam headed out to play in the water...which ended up with the two of them debating on who was going to get in the lake first and WHO might get a little
"HELP" from behind (yes...that would be a BIG PUSH)
Seemed the lizards were on holiday too...
they were crawling around everywhere soaking up the sun as well.
Mr. D sticking his feet in the water...
which is really quite a feat for him, as he HATES the water...
(other than to drink and shower in)
We enjoyed every aspect of our little holiday evening.....
swimming into the sunset....
Splashing and BEING splashed~
jumping OVER the rocks down below~
laughing...laughing and laughing...
making many leaps of faith~
AND enjoying a good read...a little chatting, resting and hanging out...all in an attempt to get away from the
hustle and bustle of the craziness that we call life~
Kim, in her last attempt for fun....begged and pleaded for someone (anyone at this point)
from the shore, to join her in the
"ways of the water"...nope, didn't happen...sorry Kim!
smiles were once again experienced by all
as we enjoyed our quiet little holiday evening, everyone in their own individual way.....
As the night drew nigh~
"SUPER MAN" (with his cape in tact), peered out onto the lake as if to say "farewell".... as we make a close of our evening festivities and head back to the "real world"...
It was a nice escape, nice to set everything aside, to pretend that the world is perfect
and to watch the sun disappear over the mountains...got to love those holiday breaks!
